Peer Tutoring

Do you want to review the complex formulas in your biology and chemistry classes? Are you looking for clarification on your economics assignments? Peer tutoring can help resolve your questions and feel more confident with your understanding of the materials.

Students are eligible for two hours of tutoring every week for each class in which tutoring in offered. Peer tutors are students like you! They understand your challenges, and are eager to share what they know. All tutors receive ongoing training in best current tutoring practices and on tutoring strategies relevant to their tutoring discipline. All peer tutors have been highly successful in the courses they tutor.

During your tutoring appointment you can:

  • Review for exams.
  • Review homework assignments or class projects.
  • Receive clarification on class notes and lab assignments.
  • Receive detailed explanations of difficult subject matter.
  • Practice explaining complex concepts to check for understanding. 

Summer Tutoring Hours

Tutoring is available on a drop-in basis during the summer from May 15-August 3. Drop-in hours are Monday–Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m at the Gardner Steel Conference Center, next to Thackeray Hall. If you have any questions please call 412-648-7920.

Next Year's FAFSA Available Now

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) became available on October 1, 2016 for the 2017-18 academic year. This is the most important form to complete in order to qualify for almost all types of financial aid.
