Academic Skills Workshop Series

Time Management

The Time Management workshop is designed to give participants a variety of techniques that are useful to effectively manage time. This workshop will cover how to prioritize tasks and discuss tools that will help participants manage time based on their personal style.

Study Skills Boot Camp

Study Skills Boot Camp is a broad scope workshop that is designed give participants some of the most revalent tools to assist them with the cycle of learning in a higher education setting. This workshop covers methods for better note taking, studying, test taking, and post-exam analysis.

Goal Setting

The Goal Setting workshop guides participants through the creation of and ways to act upon meaningful goals. Throughout the workshop, participants will utilize the methods discussed in order to work through the creation of their own SMART goals.

How to Succeed in the Sciences

How to Succeed in the Sciences is a faculty led workshop that helps participants understand the study skills necessary to do well in science courses. This workshop will discuss basic strategies and time commitment needed in order to be a successful student in the sciences.

Overcoming Procrastination

The Overcoming Procrastination workshop is designed to help participants understand their personal style of procrastination. By giving tips and time management skills based on procrastination styles, participants will be able to minimize procrastination.

Overcoming Test Anxiety

Overcoming Test Anxiety is coordinated by the University Counseling Center and is designed to help participants discover ways to work through their anxiety when they are taking a test.

Learning Styles and Test Preparation

The Learning Styles and Test Preparation workshop is designed to help participants understand the conditions in which they are able to best study in. This workshop covers tips for each type of learner, as well as general information on how to study and best prepare for a test.

Study Smarter, Not Harder

Study Smarter, Not Harder is a workshop that is designed to help participants understand the way in which the brain takes in information. This workshop will cover some of the theory behind studying and give participants tools to help them better take in information when studying.

Finals Boot Camp

Finals Boot Camp is a broad scope workshop that is designed give participants the basic skills and tips to help they succeed during finals week. This workshop covers ways to stay on top of finals including time management, study skills specific, and ways to minimize stress during finals.

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) offers individual appointments to help you develop effective and efficient academic skills and strategies. To take advantage of those opportunities, you need to develop a wide range of approaches and know when to apply them. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) became available on October 1, 2016 for the 2017-18 academic year. This is the most important form to complete in order to qualify for almost all types of financial aid.
