Become a Peer Advisor

The Dietrich School and College of General Studies are not currently accepting applications for the Peer Advisor program. Applications are usually solicited prior to the Summer and Fall terms. Please review the information below and contact us with any questions about becoming a Peer Advisor.

Peer Advisors may typically join the Advising Center staff during their sophomore, junior, or senior years. Becoming a Peer Advisor is a great opportunity to develop communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, all while helping other undergraduate students and their families.

Responsibilities include:

  • Meeting with new first year and transfer students during their transitional advising process,
  • Responding to questions about Dietrich School majors/minors and other programs,
  • Helping students build their class schedules and complete their registration process, and
  • Assisting the administrative staff and on-call advisor in the Advising Center.

If you have questions about the Peer Advising program, please feel free to contact us at advcentr@pitt.edu or (412) 624-6444.
