Recognition Ceremony for August and December classes of 2018
On Sunday morning, December 16, we will recognize the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences August and December classes of 2018. Invitations and additional information will be sent to graduates in the fall.
Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, 4141 Fifth Avenue. Two entrances open to the Hall: the main entrance on Fifth Avenue and the doors on University Place for guests requiring ramp access. Coat racks will be available in the Gettysburg Room.
Paid parking is available in the Soldiers & Sailors Parking Garage. The entrance is mid-block on Bigelow Boulevard. Street (metered) parking is available in and around Oakland. There are also select public parking garages available for varying costs. See the University of Pittsburgh's parking information page for suggestions.

Graduates will not wear academic regalia (caps and gowns). Graduates and guests are encouraged to wear business attire.
The Office of the University Registrar will mail diplomas for December graduates in late January 2019. August graduates should have received their diplomas early in the fall.
The ceremony will take place on Sunday morning, but the precise timing of the event has not yet been established. The following timeline from the December 2017 ceremony is provided as an example.
Graduates: Upon arrival, please check in at the registration table to receive your preprinted name card and instructions. The registration table is positioned across from the entrance to the auditorium.
Graduates must be lined up for academic procession prior to the start of the recognition ceremony.
Open seating for guests is available on the ground floor and in the balcony. Balcony access is via stairs only.

Keynote speaker: Marlee Gallagher (A&S '10)
Following the welcoming remarks and keynote speech, all graduates will process across the stage to be recognized individually. At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests are asked to please remain seated until the graduates have exited the auditorium.
|Noon||After the recognition ceremony, graduates and guests are invited to enjoy light refreshments and to browse the displays in the east and west corridors. The hall closes at 1:30 p.m.|
Please note: The University of Pittsburgh's official Commencement Convocation will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Petersen Events Center. Graduates are permitted to attend both the Dietrich School December ceremony and the University's official Commencement Convocation.
