Peer Tutoring

Your On-Call Study Buddy

We know, we know. In high school, you only sought out a tutor when you were struggling in a class and needed extra help to pass. Here, it’s a little different. Peer tutors are students like you who have mastered a particular subject area and want to share their inside secrets with other students interested in the same things.

Peer Tutoring

Maybe you want to bump your B to an A. Maybe you want someone to study with for an upcoming exam. Maybe you just want to talk through one particular assignment with someone who’s done it before. Or maybe you’re reviewing your notes and realize you may have zoned out at a critical moment. Peer tutors can help. Think of them as your on-call study buddy, there with just a phone call to help you do your best in every class.

Of course, there may be some point during your time at Pitt where you are actually struggling in a class. It’s okay. It happens. (Actually, it happens a lot.) And our peer tutors are right there on standby, ready to jump in and help out.

How Does it Work?

Tutoring begins in the third week of the term. Students can request two hours of one-on-one free tutoring every week for each class in which tutoring is offered.

Check out the complete list of courses for which peer tutoring is available.

To schedule a one-on-one appointment, call 412-648-7920, or stop by the tutoring office at G-1 Gardner Steel Conference Center. Appointments are one hour long and are held in Gardner Steel.

You can also just drop in. Drop-in tutoring is available Sunday through Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. There is no limit to how many hours of drop-in tutoring you may use.

Follow these guidelines to ensure that you get the most out of your peer tutoring experience!
