Why did you become a tutor?
I became a tutor to help and mentor other students at Pitt and help guide them toward academic success.
What is your favorite thing about the subject in which you tutor?
My favorite thing about organic chemistry is that everything is like a puzzle, making problem solving fun and exciting. For biology, I love the broad range of material covered and how applicable the information is to everyday life.
What is the best study tip you have for a student taking one of the courses you tutor?
Be flexible about your study habits! In my experience, I have found that one method of studying does not work for every chapter or help solve every problem. Keep a positive attitude and if one method does not work, try another one.
Why did you seek out tutoring?
I sought tutoring to meet 1:1 with another student who had succeeded in the course and learn from their experiences.
What is the most valuable experience you have had when you were being tutored?
Listening to study methods and being provided with resources in order to succeed
Why should students come to Study Lab?
I think students should come to the Study Lab in order to gather encouragement and support from other students who have succeeded in the courses they are taking. I think it is important for students to know that they are not alone, and people are available to help them succeed.
