Hi! My name is Genevieve and I have lived in many places, but my family is now based here in Pittsburgh. I'm a fourth-year English Literature major and Film/Media Studies minor, on my way to a Master's in Library and Information Sciences with a goal of becoming an Archivist. There are few things I am more passionate about than reading, writing, and film, but research and connection are two of them! I transferred from the Community College of Allegheny County, where I served as an editor and contributor for the college's literary magazine, The Phoenix. At Pitt, I worked as a library clerk at Hillman Library, deepening my grasp of organizational systems while helping students navigate campus resources. In Spring 2026, I received the Archival Scholars in Research Award, conducting faculty-guided research through Pitt's archives. My project examined socioeconomic class representations of monsters in 20th-century horror film scripts and what they reveal about Western cultural anxieties—now on exhibit at Hillman Library! I'm also a volunteer in the Vertebrate Paleontology archives at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, digitizing historical department files and restoring fossils. This past summer, I had a chance to restore fossils in front of guests and field their questions at the Museum's DinoFest. Working with first-hand resources and performing guided research is an honor I think every student should be able to explore.
