Gianna Swanger

Undergraduate Mentor

Hello! I’m a Junior double majoring in Neuroscience and Sociology with a minor in Chemistry and I am pursuing a career as a physician scientist. I am an undergraduate researcher at Pitt School of Medicine in the Pathology department. My research currently focuses on Cystic Fibrosis and the effects of type 2 signaling. I have also worked on projects involving asthma and COPD as well. If you are interested in research in neuroscience, sociology, or the health sciences please don’t hesitate to reach out! I have also been awarded the Brackenridge Fellowship, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Traineeship Award, presented at the ACC Meeting of the Minds, and recently published my work. I am curious about the connections between bodily systems especially respiratory disease/infection and neural implications or vice versa. A fun fact is that I participated in a musical for the first time during my sophomore year, and I had a blast! If you have any questions in regards to applying to a lab, funding, presenting, publishing, or anything else you can think of please feel free to contact me!
