Jacob Halka

Undergraduate Mentor

Hi everyone! My name is Jacob, and I’m a junior from Chester County, PA (near Philadelphia). I’m majoring in molecular biology, and after graduation, I plan to pursue a PhD in virology, molecular biology, or another related biomedical science field. I currently work at the Ambrose Lab in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, which researches HIV and COVID-19. This past summer, I studied abroad in England in a program focusing on genomics and precision health and pursued an internship at the National Institutes of Health. Outside of my research, I love exploring cafes and thrift stores around Pittsburgh, listening to pop music, baking, and taking walks around Phipps. I’m always excited to help students explore all different kinds of research, so if you’re looking for opportunities, want general advice, or assistance in applying to fellowships or summer research positions, I’d love to chat, so please feel free to reach out!
