Taking Frederick Honors College Courses

If you are interested in taking a Frederick Honors College (FHC) course please discuss it with your academic advisor to determine whether an honors course is appropriate for you. Review the class details page in the class search area to see what the enrollment requirements are for the course. Some FHC Courses, such as Foundations of Biology 1, require a score of 4 or 5 on the applicable AP exam and that you take a pre-assessment prior to enrolling. Other FHC courses may require a minimum GPA requirement.

Additional Considerations:

  • FHC courses cover topics in greater depth than other courses.
  • In order to be successful in an honors course, you must be passionate about the course subject and must be willing to work harder in the course by reading more, writing more, discussing more, and/or working on harder problems.
  • If you're interested in the subject and willing to work hard to master the material, FHC courses may be the right fit for you.
